Launched in 2010 by French car manufacturer Bugatti, Veyron Super Sport continues to be the fastest road legal car in the world with a top speed of 267 mph (431 kmph). Powered by a quad turbocharged 8.0L W16 engine generating 1,200 bhp and 1,500 Nm, and priced at an astronomical sum of $2.4 million (Rs 13.27 crores), only 30 units of Bugatti Veyron Super Sport are manufactured.

Next in line is the latest Lamborghini sportscar, Aventador which replaced the ten year old Murcielago in 2011. Powered by a 6.5L V12 generating 700 hp, Aventador is priced at $376,000 (Rs 2 crores) and has a topspeed of 217 mph (349 kmph). The third fastest car in the world is the newly launched Ferrari sportscar, F12 Berlinetta which was launched earlier this year. Powered by a 6.3L V12 generating 730 hp, F12 Berlinetta is priced at $343,385 (Rs 1.9 crores) and has a topspeed of 211 mph (339 kmph).

Fourth spot is taken by Ferrari FF which was launched last year. Powered by a 6.3L V12 generating 651 hp, Ferrari FF is priced at $295,000 (Rs 1.63 crores) and has a topspeed of 208 mph (334 kmph). SRT Viper which has an estimated topspeed of 206 mph (331 kmph) and a price tag of $100,000 (Rs 55.31 lacs), takes the fifth spot. It is powered by a 8.4L V10 generating 640 bhp.

On the sixth spot is the McLaren MP4-12C which is priced at $239,400 (Rs 1.32 crores). It has a topspeed of 205 mph (329 kmph) and is powered by a 3.8L V8 twin turbocharged generating 616 hp. Another British car maker on the list following McLaren is Bentley. Bentley’s Continental GT Speed takes the seventh spot. It is powered by a 6.0L W12 twin turbocharged generating 616 hp. Priced at $234,000 (Rs 1.29 crores), Bentley Continental GT Speed has a topspeed of 205 mph (328 kmph).

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 powered by a 6.2L supercharged V8 generating 638 hp takes the eighth spot. It has a topspeed of 205 mph and is priced at $111,600 (Rs 61.7 lacs). Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera takes the ninth spot with a price tag of $237,600 (Rs 1.31 crores). It is powered by a 5.2L V10 generating 562 hp and has a topspeed of 202 mph (323 kmph). The last but not the list on the top 10 fastest cars list is the Ferrari 458 Italia. Powered by a 4.5L V8 generating 562 hp, it has a top speed of 201 mph (323 kmph) and carries a price tag of $229,825 (Rs 1.27 crores).
