Through FY 2013-14, Mercedes Benz has sold 9548 cars as compared to 6941 cars sold in FY 2012-13. This equates to sales growth for the luxury automaker here. At a press conference earlier in the year, Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India did mention the 10,000 unit sales mark in a year was still achievable if one waited for the FY result. While that goal has fallen short by about 450 cars, no doubt Mercedes-Benz India will be thrilled with the result. After reporting highest ever retail sales of 9003 units in the year 2013, sales of 9548 units is the company’s highest financial year retail sales result.
As per Mercedes-Benz India 2014 strategy, the company announced 10 new product launches in 2014. Of these, Mercedes-Benz New S-Class, C-Class GRAND EDITION and M-Guard SUV are now launched. Within 2 months of S-Class launch in January, Mercedes-Benz India announced local assembly of the new S 500 at its Chakan plant, Pune earlier in March. Its Luxury Performance SUV, GL 63 AMG will be launched in India on 15th April.
