Sales of Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. for the month of June stood at 4,167 units as compared to 1,632 units sold in June 2011. This was nearly 155% increase, a near threefold increase in sales in the month in an otherwise bleak automobile market situation prevalent in the country.
Growth could be contributed mainly to Nissan Sunny sedan and Nissan Micra hatchback of which the company sold 4,157 units while Nissan X Trail, Nissan Teana and Nissan 370Z made up the balance sales of 10 units in June 2012. Nissan 370Z – units, Nissan Micra – 1091 units, Nissan Sunny – 3066 units, Nissan Teana – 1 unit, and Nissan X-Trail – 9 units.
Nissan Motors is now concentrating on launch of their new Urban utility vehicle Evalia. The vehicle was recently showcased at the New Delhi Auto Show in January 2012 while it will be up for sale in time for Diwali season in India. The launch of this vehicle will help in expanding the company’s range of products as it goes into production from the Nissan Motor Chennai plant in the coming few months.

Nissan India posts 155% jump in June Sales
Total sales of 4167 units against 1632 units a year ago
Mumbai, July 02, 2012: Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL) today reported a sale of 4167 units in June against 1632 units a year ago, registering a growth of 155%.
The growth continues to be driven by two of Nissan’s flagship ‘made in India’ models, Nissan Sunny mid-size sedan and Nissan Micra compact premium hatchback, which together contributed 4157 units. Rest of the sales is by Nissan X-Trail SUV, Nissan Teana sedan and the sports car Nissan 370Z.
Commenting on the robust growth amidst difficult market situations, Mr Ishida Takayuki, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd said: “Though the Indian economy and the local automobile market have been going through some difficulty in the recent times, we have witnessed encouraging sales. This demonstrates that customers prefer Nissan brands in the segments we are present. We are thankful to them and will continue to live up to the expectations of our valued customers”.

We have expanded our network presence across 66 % of the Indian market thereby reaching out closer to the customers. This month’s growth can also be attributed to the affordable and innovative consumer offering of low EMIs and petrol at pre-hike prices.”
Nissan’s Urban Utility Vehicle, Evalia which was showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo in January, will be available to customers before the upcoming Diwali season. Evalia will further expand Nissan’s innovative product range in India when it goes to production at the company’s Chennai plant later this year.
