The demand for compact crossovers is increasing exponentially. For eg., consider the Indian auto industry, where sales figures of newly launched Renault Duster are a proof. Duster is averaging 5,000 units monthly in India. The same Duster, is launched in the UK under the Dacia brand. Even there, it has managed to garner itself recognition like no other car in the segment yet. Speaking about compact crossovers, Ford EcoSport is another vehicle which has managed to create a buzz in the Indian auto industry. Ford India is scheduled to launch the EcoSport very soon.
Recently, there has been a lot car manufacturers who have revealed compact crossovers. Renault revealed Captur, Honda revealed Jazz based Urban SUV, while Nissan revealed Extrem. All these were revealed in concept cuises. Suzuki S Cross will now be shown in production ready form. This indicates that the car will be launched in Europe this year itself, much ahead of its rivals. Production for the S Cross will begin at their plant in Hungary.
Nothing has been said about the S Cross’s launch in India, but considering the segment in which it will be launched, Maruti Suzuki India would be quite tempted to introduce the car to the Indian auto industry as early as possible.
Suzuki confirmed that S Cross will be available in both petrol and diesel engine powered options, where the diesel mill (1.3L) will most likely be sourced from Fiat. Suzuki S Cross concept measured 4310 mm in length, 1840 mm in width and 1600 mm in height.
