Toyota India re-launches Fortuner Sportivo, once again as a limited edition

First launched in October 2012 as a limited edition model, Toyota were forced to re-launch the model due to higher demand, thereby making the SUV no longer a limited edition. In January 2013, Mr. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, Marketing and Commercial said, “We introduced the Fortuner TRD Sportivo as a limited edition in October 2012. Looking at the overwhelming response and its popularity, we have now regularized this grade for all those looking for a unique sporty image. The bookings will open starting 18th Jan 2013.”

It’s Oct 2013, and the Indian arm of Japanese car makers has once again launched (was it discontinued?) Fortuner Sportivo SUV, and that too as a limited edition model. The only difference this time around is that they have launched the car in 4×4 MT variant. On earlier occasions, they had launched it in 4×2 MT and 4×2 AT trim.

This time, launched in a limited edition restricted to just 400 units, Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo will be offered in two color options of Super White and Silver Mica Metallic. Priced at INR 24,26,247 (ex-Showroom, New Delhi), the model is based on 4×4 manual transmission variant but gets added features in the form of dual toned front and rear bumpers, special engraving on its sides, a radiator grille with TRD emblem and a TRD Sportivo emblem at the rear.

These are the same features which are seen in Fortuner Sportivo TRD Limited Edition last year. What strikes different, is the missing chrome front grille, slightly different lower lip of front bumper, and TRD Sportivo strip on the sides. We have attached both images, last year’s Sportivo Limited Edition and this year’s Sportivo Limited Edition, see if you can spot more differences.

Speaking about the launch this time, Mr. Sandeep Singh, DMD & COO, TKM said, “Fortuner has been the leader in its segment since launch and has sold more than 54,000 units. With an aim to provide newness, we have introduced the Fortuner Limited edition for the festive season. Sought after for both off-roading and city driving, the limited edition with its sporty image will provide exclusivity to our customers.”
